This is the first installment of 12 Things to Experience on an Everglades Airboat Tour which can also be downloaded as a free eBook.
If you want to explore the Florida Everglades, there’s really only one way to do it. On an airboat! Airboats, also called fan-boats, are flat-bottomed vessels propelled by an aircraft-type propeller and powered by either an aircraft or automotive engine. They are primarily used for fishing, bowfishing, hunting and eco-tourism, and are most popular in swampy areas such as the Florida Everglades.
At Captain Jack’s, you will be riding in a six passenger airboat. The airboat ride is suitable for all ages, and is a fun, entertaining experience. On your airboat ride, you can expect to…
…travel through the Everglades Barron River and a few other waterways with a well trained Captain that knows the Everglades like the back of their hand. Our Captains are all licensed and certifiedwith the U.S. Coast Guard, so you can rest assured that you are in good hands.
Our captains make stops along the way at certain points of interest, allowing you to take in the amazing scenery and take lots of photos. If you prefer a little more excitement, the captains are more than happy to speed up the boat for a more exhilarating ride!
The small airboats that you’ll be riding on are unlike large commercial airboats at other tourist attractions. Smaller airboats allow you to glide deep into an area where the crowded tour boats can’t go. You’ll have the opportunity to see an abundance of wildlife including alligators, native birds, manatees, fish, deer, raccoons, and possibly snakes.
During your airboat tour, your captain will point out the local wildlife and native plants. They will also share some of the Native American history and local folklore.
This will certainly be a memorable experience, with amazing photo opportunities to help you preserve those memories forever. When you take an airboat ride through the Everglades with Captain Jack’s, you can expect a few extra perks like a free photo with a baby alligator and a free sand dollar or Indian Friendship Bracelet for children and ladies…so make sure to you don’t forget to stop by the gift shop at 200 Collier Ave!
